PROJECT OF EXCELLENCE

The Institute of Cellular Biology and Pathology is part of a Center of Excellence funded by the Czech Science Foundation (2012-2018, grant number P302/12/G157). The research aim of this Center of Excellence is to analyze the dynamics and organization of chromosomes during the cell cycle and cellular differentiation in normal and pathological conditions. It brings together some of the best Czech teams working on the cell biology of the nucleus, the function of the genome and epigenome, and the organization and dynamics of chromatin/chromosomes. The project leader is doc. RNDr. Stanislav Kozubek, DrSc., director of the Institute of Biophysics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

The Center of Excellence operates in a way that promotes i) multidisciplinary approaches based on collaboration among the best research teams; (ii) a close collaboration between the Academy of Sciences and universities in the Czech Republic; (iii) the creation of a critical mass of scientists and expertise, which should enable solving complex tasks; and (iv) the training of a new generation of young scientists in the highly competitive field of chromatin biology.

For more details, please see the webpage of the Center (currently only in Czech).
